Take-home pay calculator
See what you actually take home from your salary after National Insurance and any pension, insurance or loan deductions. Employers can also see the full cost of employing someone, including the employer's NIB share.
Take-home pay
How this is calculated
- Your gross pay is capped at the National Insurance insurable wage ceiling for your pay period.
- The employee NIB rate is applied to that insurable amount and rounded to the cent.
- Any voluntary deductions you entered (pension, health insurance, union dues, loans) are subtracted.
- Annual figures are the per-period figures × the number of pay periods in a year (52, 26, 24 or 12).
Employer cost = gross pay + NIB (employer)
This calculator shares its National Insurance rates with the NIB contribution calculator.

Frequently asked questions
Is there income tax in The Bahamas?
No. The Bahamas has no personal income tax, so the main statutory deduction from wages is the employee's National Insurance contribution.
Why is my payslip different from this calculator?
Employers may deduct things this calculator doesn't know about, such as staff loans, savings plans, or pension contributions with different rules. Add those as voluntary deductions to match your payslip.
What does it cost an employer to hire someone?
At least the gross salary plus the employer's National Insurance contribution. Turn on "Show employer cost" to see it. Benefits like group health insurance or pension matching add more.
How do I compare two job offers?
Enter each offer's gross pay and frequency, then compare the annual net figure. A higher salary above the NIB wage ceiling keeps more of each extra dollar, because contributions stop increasing at the ceiling.
